The Joys of Being a Girl Dad | Tommy Shelby & Alfie Solomons (set in Girl Dad series)

Request: no - written for @justrainandcoffee âs 2 year âAlfieversaryâ
Pairing: Tommy Shelby (x Reader mentioned) & Alfie Solomons (x fem!OC & child OC mentioned)
Summary: Tommy stops by Margate to congratulate an old associateâŠadversaryâŠfriend.
Warnings: language (itâs Tommy and Alfie weâre talking about here), a slight bit of Cyril slander
A/N: Iâm sorry it took me soooo long to write something for your celebration, Flor!! I guess I could call this a present for Roseâs 1 year anniversary too now, even though sheâs not really in it. Thank you for sharing this beautiful au with us!!
A/N 2: I should also say that this story was supposed to be shorter, but I just kinda became invested and ran away with itâŠI hope you donât mind. Also itâs been a bit since Iâve written for Alfie, so I hope heâs not too ooc here. Enjoy! :)
IâD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! â YOUR COMMENTS & REBLOGS HELP ME WRITE!
Comment/Message me if youâd like to be tagged!
âWho let you in?â the man who was sitting facing the open balcony door asked.
âHowâd you know it was me?â the other man, who was standing at the entrance of the room, responded with his own question.
âSmelt the smoke and horse shit the second you stepped through that archway,â the first man mused, earning a snort from the second. âSo Iâll ask again: who let you in?â
âYour wifeâŠâ
âFigures she did,â the first man cut the second off, muttering the comment under his breath.
âYour wifeâs assistant let me in after she told me to get lost and slammed the door in my face,â the rest of the statement was shared, which made the first man finally spin in his seat to look back towards the archway.
Silence hung in the air for a few moments, the two men staring at each other from several paces awayâŠmuch like they had on that fated day all those months ago. âSo why didnât ya listen to her?â the first man finally broke the quiet, his quip conjoined with a look of query.
âItâs been a while, hasnât it, Alfie?â the second man asked, his eyebrows just slightly raised.
âIt has,â the first man nodded, pursing his lips together for a moment before he continued, âyet it is still sooner than the day in which I thought Iâd see Tommy Shelby again.â
Tommy Shelby just shook his head at the manâs remark, looking at the ground as he pursed his lips. It didnât faze him in the slightest.
âWhyâre you here then?â Alfie asked, still wanting to get to the bottom of the Birmingham manâs presence. However, he interjected again before said man even had the chance to speak: âyouâve come to finish me off, havenât ya? Since ya couldnât get it right the first time.â
âIâve come with something,â Tommy answered, not even bothering to respond to Alfieâs second comment.
He then stepped towards the chair that the other man was sitting in, his hands still behind his back. Anyone else would have wondered if maybe theyâd got it rightâŠmaybe he was actually there to finish his old adversary off. But Alfie wasnât bothered in the slightest. No, he could tell from the manner in which Tommy approached him.
âI want to offer a congratulationsâŠon your daughter,â Tommy finished his statement once he was standing in front of Alfie. Alfie looked him over with raised eyebrows, wondering just how a busy, business-minded man like him would have gotten such information. â(Y/N) told me the news. She got word of it from Rose,â Tommy gave the curious man some more information.
âThat RosieâŠâ Alfie mused with a slight shake of his head, âI had a feelinâ that she hadnât cut off all contact with you Shelbys.â He couldnât help but smile at the thought of his wife still keeping up a regular correspondence with the wife of the man whoâd shot him.
(Y/N) and Rose had hit it off practically from the moment they met each other. Their friendship went beyond their husbandsâ business partnership, and so when one disgruntled husband aimed a gun at the other and pulled the trigger, the two women tried hard not to let it come completely between them. There some time where radio silence prevailedâŠactually most out the time over the course of the last year was filled with radio silence, but it didnât seem like a beat was missed when Rose contacted (Y/N) to tell her of the newest addition to the Solomons family.
Although Tommy was more hesitant to make amends, he couldnât deny his wifeâs request to deliver something to the newest Solomons.
âShe wanted me to give you this,â Tommy then said, finally revealing the tan, stuffed rabbit that heâd brought with him. âTo give to her,â he included, making his intentions more clear.
âI knew you werenât givinâ me a stuffed rabbit,â Alfie quipped, snorting to himself before continuing, âor at least I hope you were planninâ to.â
âI wasnât planning on doing that, Alfie, no,â Tommy shook his head, dismissing the comment before it gained any ground. âThe rabbitâs for your girl.â
Alfie took a moment to look over the other man again. He was still holding the rabbit out in front of him, waiting for Alfie to take it. Tommy wondered how long Alfie was going to make him stand like this.
Finally he took it. âSheâll like it,â Alfie stated, eyeing over the animal from close up now. He couldnât deny that it felt soft in his hands. Allie would surely love it. âThanks, Tommy.â
âMy three couldnât go to bed without it,â Tommy commented, a small smile gracing his lips as he thought of his three daughters and the love they had for that very stuffed rabbit.
A look of realization flashed across Alfieâs face as he heard Tommyâs comment. He brought his hand up to his jaw and ran it down his cheek slowly, stroking his beard as if he was in thought. âHave a seat,â he then said, gesturing to the chair that was set directly across from the one he was sitting in. He waited until the other man was seated before continuing, âthree girls, huh?â he mused, sounding like he was talking more so to himself than anything.
âYeah,â Tommy nodded in response.
âA proper girl dad,â Alfie commented then.
âA what?â Tommy asked with furrowed eyebrows.
âYouâre a dad thatâs got all girls, hence the fucking term girl dadâŠstick with it, Tommy,â the response came laden with derision.
Tommy raised his eyebrows at the other manâs comments, looking to the ground as he let the air cool off before he cleared his throat and nodded his head. âYeah, a girl dad then.â He ran a hand along the back of his head as he spoke, wondering if he was even using the term correctly. Alfie didnât comment, so he guessed that he didnât seem to care none.
Instead the newer father continued on with the conversation. âDoes it ever get hard?â
âWhat? Being a girl dad?â Tommy looked over at him again.
âNo, not being able to hit your fucking mark when youâre fifteen fucking paces away,â Alfie retorted, âyes, being a girl dad,â he then exaggerated his words.
Tommy bit his tongue yet again. He wasnât here to get into a fight with Alfie Solomons. The rabbit currently sitting in the other manâs lap was supposed to serve as a sort of olive branch.
âIt does,â he finally answered after a momentâs pause.
âGive me some fuckinâ detail, mate,â Alfie asked.
âFuckinâ hell, Alfie,â Tommy sighed under his breath, pressing the pads of his thumbs against his eyelids. He cleared his throat again as he thought of how heâd answer the question. âItâs been hard from the moment we brought Thea home. A different sort of hard than the âhardâ Iâve experienced prior. But itâs also been rewarding...with Thea, then Evie and now Juniper. Iâve learned more from them than from anything else Iâve ever done.â
Alfie took a moment to digest what his confidant had just shared with him. He truly didnât expect Tommy Shelby to come out with such meaningful statements. I guess even the worst of men can change their tones, he thought to himself. âI didnât know ya had it in ya, Tommy,â he commented, exuding a breath of a laugh as he shook his head.
Tommy kept his eyes locked on Alfie unsure of how to respond to his comment. He wondered if this was all some sort of gameâŠif Alfie now wanted to toy with him; getting him to open up just to use the information against him.
âThanks for sharing it though. I, uhâŠâ Alfie paused, the sound of his voice cutting through Tommyâs thoughts and making him focus in again. âIâll take all of the help I can get with this one. They say that raising a child takes a fucking village, or however that fucking saying goes.â
âThereâs a great deal of joy in it too,â Tommy made sure to add, hoping to convey that having daughters, or kids at all for that matter, wasnât only stressful. âI just know that I wouldnât be able to do it without (Y/N) though.â
âThatâs the same with me and my Rosie. A fuckinâ trooper, that woman is,â Alfie agreed in regards to his wife. Truthfully, he wouldnât be here right now if it werenât for Rose Solomons. He genuinely owed his life to herâŠand he was going to spend the rest of it showing her.
Silence fell between the two men then, both sitting comfortably in their thoughts of the women they had in their lives, and of how much their respective wives meant to them. The silence hung until the sound of small feet came pattering off of the hardwood in the hallway.
âDaddy! Daddy!â a shrill voice of a small girl soon accompanied the hurried footsteps. Said girl quickly appeared in the archway of Alfie office. Along with her frantic demeanor, Alfie was also able to see streaks of tears on her chreks.
âWhatâs wrong, Allie?â he asked her, his brows furrowing together.
âCyril chewed on my stuffie, daddy!â she exclaimed, hiccuping as she spoke through her tears. âIt was my favorite stuffie!â
âAwe now love, Iâm sorry about that,â Alfie began, opening his arms to the child as she came over to him. She quickly fell into them, and he wasted no time in hugging her tightly. âHeâs just a brute that knows nothing of favorite stuffies,â he consoled her as she continued to sniffle her tears away.
Tommy watched on as the moment played out in front of him. He laughed to himself as hearing the reason behind the problem at hand took him back to the moments where Cyril had chewed his girlsâ stuffies; there had to have been several instances during the dogâs stay at Arrow House.
âI donât have a stuffie now, daddy,â Allie whimpered, finally lifting her head from her fatherâs chest. âMum said it was too covered in slobber to be saved.â
âWell Iâve got just the fix for ya, Allie,â Alfie began, unwrapping one of his arms from her so that he could blindly search for the stuffed rabbit that Tommy had just handed him. He continued when he found the animal, ânow I know itâs no bear, and I know that your favorite stuffies have all been bears, but this lovely little lass was just placed upon my lap moments before you came runninâ in.â
Allieâs eyes immediately found the rabbit, and she had it in her tight embrace within an instant. âThis stuffie is so soft! And she has a lovely bow!â she observed, now beaming with excitement. âThank you so much, daddy!â she smiled at her father.
âThanks have to go to that man,â Alfie told his daughter, nodding in Tommyâs direction. He bit his tounge and stopped the urge to add âthe one who shot your fatherâ because even he knew this wasnât the time for that. He didnât want to bring that feud into Allieâs realm.
âWhatâs his name?â Allie asked in a loud whisper, her shy eyes finding Tommyâs.
âTell âer your name, mate,â Alfie beckoned Tommy to share the information.
âItâs Tommy,â the other man followed suit, smiling as he spoke.
Allie observed him for a moment, surely trying to decide what she felt about him. A few beats of silence passed before a smile formed on her face. âThank you, Mr. Tommy,â she said in a small voice.
âYouâre welcome, Allie,â Tommy nodded, his smile widening.
âDad you have to yell at Cyril now,â Allie turned back to her dad, a deep frown present on her face.
âIâll make sure he knows what heâs done,â Alfie assured her, âgo play, love.â
With one last smile, Allie hopped off of her fatherâs lap and exited the room almost as quick as she entered it.
âThat fuckinâ dogâŠâ Alfie trailed off, shaking his head, âwhyâd you give him back?â
âYou wanted him back, Alfie,â Tommy answered in a monotone voice.
âYou may be right,â Alfie conceded, cracking a smile as he thought about the dog.
âYour daughterâs lovely,â Tommy commented.
âShe is, ainât she?â Alfie answered, âlight of my fuckinâ life, that girlâŠboth her and her mum.â
Tommy nodded, his mind going to his wife and daughters. There was no doubt that he shared the same sentiment towards his girls.
Oh, the joys of being a girl dadâŠeven if â or rather when, because itâll surely happen again â Tommy and Alfie were at odds with each other, theyâll always have the shared title as something they can both relate to.

Rose & Alfie

At every stage in her life, he loved her. There was this assumption that love wavers. It's up and down, and sometimes thins so much it's questionable whether or not it's there. But for Alfie, every day they grew older, he loved her more. He loved the way she became wiser, stronger, and braver. He became obsessed with the way her looks changed; becoming more defined with life and love. The small crevices along her skin and the way her hair lightened to a gray. All was evidence that he and her were living a full life together. Not one moment did he ever question his love, heart, and emotions. Not one moment did he ever find her less attractive than the day before.
@justrainandcoffee I hope you enjoy this small holiday gift. I will cross my fingers that I did it justice. Please enjoy, and happy holidays. :) Rose belongs to Flor.

Under the Willow Tree ||Alfie Solomons x OC (letters)

Summary: While he was roaming through paper works in his office, Alfie Solomons finds an unopened letter by chance. A letter written by his wife when he was fighting for his life at the hospital after his violent encounter with Thomas Shelby. Alfie still decides to write a reply... Unfortunately, he loses it before he can hand it to his Mrs. Solomons.
Notes: Letters exchange written for @raincoffeeandfandoms' event "The Peaky Receives Letters". The first letter was written by Flor (@raincoffeeandfandoms) herself, and Alfie's answer is mine. Hope I did a good job at portraying your sweet Alfie!
My dearest love, Alfie.
It's been two whole days since Thomas shot you. You're lying here in bed, surrounded by doctors and nurses who don't know if you'll recover or not. I haven't slept in 48 hours and I don't know if I will be able to again, not while you are there.Â
I write this letter in the hope that I will be able to tell you all this in person when you wake up. I have spoken to you as you lie there, but I can't tell if you can hear me or not. And the anguish inside me, it needs to come out. I've told myself that I have to be strong that I have to be fighting by your side, like we always did, but I don't always have the strength. And I'm so tired.
I decided, instead, to remember nice moments we spent together. There's a memory I have of us when we were 17, maybe you've already forgotten about it. You were already in charge of the bakery where you started working at 14 and you were starting to get interested in having your own "bakery". You always called the business you really wanted to get involved in that way, I guess it was easier to call it that, than calling it an illegal distillery. I always thought it was funny, even today.
We had gone on a picnic day in the middle of spring. We had brought apples and several of those little cakes you used to bake. We had planned everything and the day couldn't have been more perfect. I remember the sun was shining and I remember the tree we sat under. It was a willow tree whose branches touched the stream in front of which we were sitting.Â
I think the day was beautiful, at least is how I remember it. There were even ducks that we also fed. We hadn't been able to have a date like that in a long time because we were both working and really needed some time alone. Do you remember? We could barely see each other in the evenings. And sometimes not even that.
At first, it was beautiful. The food and you was all I wanted. But the things started to go wrong when we got distracted and the ants decided they wanted your pies, too. You were so angry with them! But we couldn't do nothing because, of course, they outnumbered us. So we moved from there, because it was a war we couldn't win. There was another tree, so we went under that one. But it happened that we never saw the beehive. The bees were not happy with us. The way we run! We abandoned the basket and the remaining food there. Probably the ducks ate the rest. Our date next to the stream was terrible. I remember you were mad, because you couldn't give me the perfect date you wanted. But to me, it was perfect. I laughed a lot after that.
We have shared so many things like this, Al, and I know we have to keep making memories because we can't end up like this. I can't let the one person I loved my whole life, my first kiss, my first love, to die because of a bullet from Thomas Shelby. I know you'll survive.
I'll leave the letter in a drawer, hoping I'll never have to write another one like this one.Â
I hear voices, what's happening? They're coming from the room where you are. It sounds like your voice. Is it possible? Or is the lack of sleep making me hallucinate? I'll go and see. My heart is beating so fastâŠ
Yours, always.
Rosie.
Ahuvi sheli,
As I was looking for some tedious paperwork, I found your letter by chance, hidden under the mess on my desk. I know this terrible event is far behind us now and that you are peacefully sleeping on the couch, snuggling against Cyril by the fire. Still, I canât resolve myself to let this heartbreaking letter without any answer. Youâve opened your heart by writing this, so let me ink mine on the back of this same paper.
When I was laying in a pit of darkness, trapped in the flesh prison of my own body, I felt Deathâs presence creeping in the shadow, waiting for me to stop fighting so that It could take me away from you. Fear paralyzing me, fatigue eating up my remaining strength, I was convinced I would die here without being able to kiss your honey lips goodbye⊠My heart ached at this sole thought. But then, I heard your wonderful and enchanting voice talking to me in this dull hospital room, and suddenly the thick darkness was not there anymore. I felt the sweet caress of sun rays warming up my skin and I smelled the intoxicating fragrances of your floral perfume â the last one I gifted you for our anniversary. And there I was, near the mighty willow tree we would sit by when we were 17. Even though I was alone, I could still hear you talking to me from a faraway distance. Each word, each sigh, each sob⊠I held onto them, finding strength in your love until I could finally reopen my eyes.
You always compliment how tough I am â both physically and mentally. Whether I am carrying huge bags of flour or handling the Shelby and Sabiniâs situations.  I usually answer that the strongest of us was you. After all, you were the one who kept fighting after the awful years these Evert bastards had made you undergo. I would gladly tell you that I would piss on Lawrenceâs grave but since it is a letter I guess I should remain polite. Yet, despite how strong you are, I am deeply sorry for worrying you and involuntarily making you suffer after that cunt Tommy Shelby shot my fucking face. Living with the fact I caused your tears to run down your sweet face will be the bane of my existence, but I promise to make amend for all the sorrow I caused you.
Rosie, my beloved flower, what is the willow tree without your elegant frame? What are the birdsâ whistles without the symphony of your adorable laugh? What is Alfie Solomons without Rose? Fucking nothing. And since Iâve risen back from the dead to pull you in my arms, let me write down our latest wonderful moment that happened yesterday: You were in the kitchen, sitting at the table with the tip of your pen trapped between your gorgeous lips. The more you flipped the pages, the more you were getting angry because you could not decipher my admittedly awful handwriting. I tried to make you laugh but you were not in the mood, and at some point, you thought I was so annoying that you threw a bit of flour at me without being aware of the consequences⊠We looked at each other silently for a few seconds, and then the same thought crossed our minds. We rushed to the nearest bag of flour and proceeded to turn our kitchen into a battlefield of white powder. You laughed! Oh, you laughed so much that diamond tears ran down your pinkish cheeks.Â
You laughed, my little Rose, and I fell in love with you again for the hundredth time.
Donât fear the voices you might hear, they are just the murmurs of my soul whispering to yours how much I love you. Also, Fuck Tommy and his little bitchass bullets â this prick canât even aimâ for nothing will take me away from you.Â
Forever yours, mind, body, and soul,
Alfie.Â

In The Graveyard with Lilith Rose Shelby (and Jack Nelson)
This work is inspired by @zablife and her 2K celebration: An Evening at The Arrow House. The OC of Lilith Rose Shelby is my own. The characters of Scarlet Shelby, Aurora Sabini, Heaven Shelby and Eva Smith belong to @zablife, @evita-shelby and @call-sign-shark. I only mentioned them because they inspired me. Eva is only mentioned by name but I did my best to do Scarlet and Heaven justice. Thank you for inspiring me.
TW: Violence, Sexual Content, Swearing.
Lilith Rose Shelby was all grown up. Sheâd flown the coop and (unlike most members of the Shelby clan) had miraculously escaped the clutches of Tommyâs schemes. Some suspected that her untapped freedom had to do with her immense luck in life⊠but for those who knew betterâŠ.it was because Thomas Shelby loved no one more than his youngest sister. No one held such an influence over the greatest gangster turned MP in all of Great Britain (and its dominions) than Lilith, no one else had the keys to his smile or to his heart. You might ask Why, then, she was allowed to roam free? Not shackled to the Arrow House as Ada had once been to the shithole in small heath. Not obligated to attend every family dinner or family meeting that Tommy threw whenever he felt like it.
âWhy?â The new Mrs Shelby kissed up Tommyâs back as he sat on the edge of the bed. âWill she not meet me?â Of all the people she desired to make a friend of in this family, Mrs Shelby wanted to make the best first impression on her mysterious good sister. Everyone spoke of her with reverence. Lilithâs name was the very essence of sorcery. Once spoken, even whispered in corridors and in dark corners, a shiver danced up oneâs spineâŠor oneâs blood spiked with adrenalin and excitement. Â
Thomas bristled and stiffened, not responding. Mrs Shelby paused, a pout forming on her nervous lips. In truth, she had expected for Thomas to be eager for his new wife to meet Lilith. The siblings were so close, that sheâd expected for her to have been the first person heâd have introduced her to. Instead she was met with a cagey Thomas.
âLilith doesnât like Arrow House.â He deflected easily, lighting a cigarette as he stood up and wandered to the window, looking out into the foggy grey autumnal morning. He exhaled some smoke in the way that had her swooning, before he spoke again. âIt reminds her of Grace.â Mrs Shelbyâs heart dropped. Grace, the woman whose shadow she was forever enshrouded by. She didnât openly wish to express her dislike of Grace or Lizzie, but she was beginning to despise them. She knew their spirits were mourned and honoured in this houseâŠ. if only by the staff and the children. It was complicated. But she hated being compared to them, hated the way the children refused to acknowledge her but would gaze in awe at the portraits of their respective mothers. It made her feel like a replacementâŠ. nothing more. Perhaps Lilith would think the same of her. She chewed on her lip.
âShe must have loved Grace a lot.â She mused. Tommy scoffed.
âOn the contrary, Lilith hated Grace.â He licked his lips, glancing at his wife. Heâd put it politely for her, spared some of the details. No one hated Grace more than Tommyâs beloved little demoness. âShe disliked Lizzie as well, but for different reasons.â
       âOh.â
âGrace betrayed me. Lilith refused to forgive that. The only reason she refrained from dancing with joy when she died was that she loved me too much.â
       âAnd Lizzie?â
âLizzie broke Johnâs heart.â  Tommy spoke casually, remorselessly as though heâd had nothing to do with it.
âIâve not done anything to hurt anyone.â Mrs Shelby sulked, looking at the floor. Tommy strolled back over to the bed and took her into his arms.
âQuite right.â He kissed her forehead. âPerhaps itâs not such a bad idea to invite her this weekend.â
âBut she hates the Arrow House.â
âSheâll come for the family, and for me. The kids will be delighted to see herâ
âSheâs good with them?â Her interest was piqued. Perhaps Lilith could shed light on the way to Charlie and Rubyâs hearts.
âShe dotes on them.â He smiled, a real genuine smile. âTheyâre mine, after all.â
*****
Mrs Shelby skipped towards Tommy, her letter filled left hand raised in triumph. Her sparkling sapphire engagement ring sparkled in the light.
âTheyâre coming.â She kissed him joyously. âTheyâre all coming.â
    âAll?â He chuckled.
âAll.â She confirmed. âAnd theyâre all staying. Scarlet and Luca will stay in the room opposite Finn and Aurora. Alfie and Ada will stay in the room opposite Polly and Aberamma.â Tommy smiled as she babbled out her arrangements. He imagined it was a good idea that Alfie and Arthur should stay in separate wings of the houseâŠ. otherwise Ada and Heaven would be forced to intervene, and no one wanted a mess. Gina and Michael would go next to Ada and Alfie. John and Tatiana would have to be kept in the room next to Tommy and Mrs Shelby so he could keep an eye on that mad bitch. Speaking of that insane Russian duchessâŠ. sheâd have to be kept as far away from Lilith and her beloved husband, Jack Nelson. Last Christmas had been a disaster when Tatiana â having had way too much to drink â announced that herself and Lilith had been lovers for the entire year before Lilith had met Jack. Jack had hated her guts since. The children would have three whole rooms to themselves. Something Mrs Shelby wasnât sure was appropriate, but something Tommy had insisted was necessary.
âThey all love being together.â He insisted. âAnd itâs not like weâre giving them the entire house.â
âIâm still so shocked theyâre all coming.â She smiled dreamily up at him. âIâve always wanted a big family.â
    âWell, now you have one.â
âYou never told me Lilith was married.â
âAh.â Tommy looked sheepish. âI didnât think sheâd bring him.â
Two years ago sheâd eloped with Jack Nelson, the last man on earth Tommy had thought suitable or good enough for Lilith. Jack Nelson was everything Tommy (ironically) hated. He was unfaithful, violent, a fascistic Irish American and he was the most obnoxious, ambitious, cunning bastard heâd ever encounteredâŠIt was like looking in an ever so slightly warped mirror. His dislike of the American hadnât stopped Lilith marrying him thoughâŠAnd yet somehow, the marriage worked. Jack followed the little Shelby witch round like a lost puppy, salivating whenever she looked at him. It was like she held some sort of magical enchantment over him. The loved up pair made Thomas feel a little bit sick. Mrs Shelby smiled teasingly.
âYou canât stand him, can you?â
âHeâs not good enough for her.â He grouched. âBut for some unfathomable reason, he makes her happy. Thatâs enough for me.â From the way he gritted his teeth it seemed like that hardest thing heâd ever had to say.
âEveryone thinks youâre a big bad gangsterâŠbut I know youâre really just a big softy.â
âDonât go telling everyone, ey.â He laughed, âI have a reputation to uphold.â Wrapping his arms around her waist he hoisted her up onto the table, taking her lips with his own. Someone coughed. Tommy turned to see Mary, the maid.
âThe house is all prepared for the guests, Mr Shelby.â
âThank you, Mary. That will be all.â She nodded, turning to leave but not before she eyed Mrs Shelby with frigid, calculating eyes. Thomas didnât seem to notice though as he shifted his attention back to Mrs Shelby as his fingers slid beneath the hem of her dress.
*****
They were nothing like she expected. None of them. Polly arrived first, gliding in like the image of sophistication, barely glancing at Mrs Shelby. Aberamma following closely at her heels. He grunted in greeting, simply tilting his head after removing his hat. Arthur and Heaven arrived at the same time as Scarlet and Luca. Arthurâs greeting had been sweet. He seemed to like her, spluttering over his words to greet her. His hands shook and his eyes looked a little wild. But he meant well. Heaven waltzed in behind him, looking like an angel in her white fur coat. The snow haired beautyâs presence seemed to ease Arthurâs nervousness. He wrapped his arm around her waist as she held out her hand for Mrs Shelby to shake.
âYou must be Heaven.â Mrs Shelby stuttered, transfixed by her crystalline eyes.
âPleasure.â Heavenâs eyes slid to Tommy and her expression instantly shifted to a predatory one. âBastard.â She acknowledged with a cat like smile.
âYes. He is.â Scarlet stated as she sauntered through, pushing her way past them and following Polly into the drawing room.
âYouâre not going to say hello, Tesoro?â Luca paused in the hallway, smiling at Mary as she took his hat and coat.
âThereâs no point in greeting Tommyâs latest victim. Knowing him, she wonât last the year.â Scarlet called back. Tommy watched Mrs Shelbyâs confidence dissipate momentarily. Headlights glowed in the driveway.
âHeaven, why donât you take Arthur and Luca into the drawing room.â Tommy suggested. Heavenâs icy eyes hardened before narrowing at him. Her lips parted in order to respond in a somewhat poisonous manner but Mrs Shelby stepped forward and whispered to her.
âI wouldnât normally agree with Tommy but Alfieâs just arrived.â Heaven observed the mouse like woman Tommy had married for a moment before she nodded, escorting her husband and brother in law to the drawing room. Music blared as the door opened and Mrs Shelby could see the reflection of Scarlet in the large mirror as she turned the gramophone up.
âSHALOM Thomas!â Roared the bear of a man as he wandered in. Ada rolled her eyes beside him. She hugged Thomas tightly before embracing Mrs Shelby, much to her surprise.
âI hope theyâve not been too scathing to you.â She whispered. âDonât worry, theyâll warm to you with time.â She pulled back and smiled. âThis is my son, Karl, my daughter, Elizabeth and this,â She brushed her hand over her swollen midsection as Alfie beamed with joy. âIs baby Solomons.â Tommy paled as she spoke, only just noticing the pregnancy.
âJesus Christ.â He muttered beneath his breath. Mrs Shelby held his hand and gave it a squeeze as she spoke.
âYouâd better head on in before he has a stroke.â
Tommy had just about recovered when the door to the drawing room opened and he heard Arthur exclaim.
âFookinâ hell Ada! You bloody kept that quiet, dinât ya?!â
Finn and Aurora Sabini arrived next. Polite and jovial as ever, though Aurora didnât appear to like the way the youngest Shelby boy looked at his new sister in law. John, Tatiana, Michael and Gina all arrived together. Lawrence ran in from the cold, zooming in circles around Tommy and Mrs Shelby before running past them to the drawing room, banging on the door and yelling âGranma, Granma!â
âMy boy!â Polly called in joy as she came out and greeted him, swooping down and collecting him in her arms before slipping back inside. Gina made a noise of disgust.
      âThomas.â She acknowledged.
âRegina.â She scowled as he full named her.
âSo this is youâre newest whore?â She studied Mrs Shelby with critical eyes. âShe doesnât look like much, Iâm surprised youâre so taken with her.â
âSheâs worth ten of you, Regina.â He snapped.
âMichael.â Mrs Shelby smiled warmly. âThank you for coming.â
âItâs nice to see you again, love. I hope heâs treating you right.â
       âHe is. Very Much.â
âI took the liberty of bringing a wedding gift. Itâs out the front.â
âThatâs very generous of you. Really, you didnât have to.â
âYes, Michael. You didnât have to.â Gina snapped before stalking off to the drawing room and loudly demanding a drink. Michael winked at Mrs Shelby, smirked at Tommy and left them to it. He turned to greet John and Tatiana and froze.
âFuck!â He fumed. âWhat the fuck are you wearing?!â He looked at John. âWhat the fuck is she wearing John-boy!â
âDonât worry, Thomas.â Tatiana purred sensually. âItâs not for youâŠor your wife.â She stepped around him, the thin scrap of material she called a dress clinging to her figure. âTatiana Petrovna Shelby, delighted to make your acquaintance.â Mrs Shelby blushed and stepped closer to Tommy as the Russian duchess invaded her space. Grabbing her jaw, Tatiana kissed both of Mrs Shelbyâs cheeks.â
âSheâd got a beautiful neck, Thomas. I can see why you like her.â She paused. âAnd that ring!â She snatched Mrs Shelbyâs hand, admiring the sapphire encrusted in diamonds. She tutted. âI would have thought youâd learned your lesson with sapphires.â
âTheyâre a particular favourite of my wifeâs.â
âGrace liked sapphires too.â Tatiana smirked, her dark eyes flickering madly in the candle-light. âIs Lilith here yet?â She changed the subject.
âIs she the reason youâre dressed like a whore?â Tommy took a swig of the amber liquid in his tumbler. âYou not bothered by this John?â
âAs long as Iâm the only man she fucks, doesnât matter to me.â He joked.
âItâll only ever be you Johnny.â Tatiana turned and kissed him.
âAye, John-boy. As long as youâre a Shelby, sheâs not picky.â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â Mrs Shelby asked, nervously glancing at Tommy.
âIt means that before she chose me, she was fucking TommyâŠuntil she got bored of him.â John answered.Â
âAre we interupptinâ somethinâ?â Came Uncle Charlieâs deep gravelly voice. He stopped short to shake Tommyâs hand, flanked by Johnny Doggs, Isiah and Curly. Curly smiled bashfully at Mrs Shelby and handed her some flowers. She blushed.
        âThank you Curly.â
âHowâre you findinâ us so far, petal?â Johnny Doggs asked loudly.
âSo far Iâm struggling to find someone who likes both of us. Polly, Aurora and Gina dislike me, everyone else has a gripe with Tommy.â Johnny Doggs barked out a laugh. âWelcome to the clan!â
âFamilies.â Isiah scoffed. âWhoâd have em?â
*****
Lilith Rose Shelby was the most beautiful creature Mrs Shelby had ever seen. So beautiful, that the air rocketed out of her lungs when she first saw her. They heard Jack first as he escorted her up the steps and held the door open for her. She looked like a goddess, draped in silk. Tommy was fascinated that Jack never once looked away from her. His only greeting to the new Mrs Shelby was a nod and a smirk. He sneered at Tommy before his attention gravitated back to his wife. She had the most beguiling dark eyes Mrs Shelby had ever seen. They were like pools of endless night. Lilith catapulted herself into Tommy, who embraced her tightly and inhaled her scent. Pomegranate and dark amber. She relaxed into him. Releasing her, Tommy cupped his baby sisterâs face in his hands and looked at her for a moment.
âYou grow more and more beautiful every time I see you.â He smiled.
âBrother.â She spoke quietlyâŠ.and she sounded like magic. Soft and sensual. âYou look well.â She beamed at him. And Mrs Shelbyâs heart fluttered at her smile. Jack snaked a hand around Lilithâs waist and pulled her back against him.
âShelby.â Jack acknowledged. âMarried again? You canât seem to get emâ to stay, can ya?â
âNelson.â Tommy spoke evenly. âI can keep women just fine. In fact, Iâve never had to cross a continent and steal a woman away to make her mine. I suppose that means I have better luck than you.â Lilith covered Jackâs hand with her own.
âOr,â She interrupted loudly, âIt simply means that I was special enough that he had to travel all this way to find me.â Mrs Shelby watched, fascinated as both men melted at Lilith words. Jack kissed Lilithâs forehead and Tommy smiled.
âCould be.â He agreed. Lilith stepped away from Jack and turned her attention to Mrs Shelby. All the noise fell away. She couldnât hear anything. Apart from the sound of her blood pulsing through her at a rapid speed. She glanced at her husband, and watched his beautiful lips move as he spoke to Lilith and Jack. She watched Lilith study her, eyes raking over her in an unreadable manner. Mrs Shelbyâs finger twitched as Lilithâs eyes pause over her engagement ring, her full soft lips quirking into a small smile for a moment before it vanishes. Mrs Shelby gasped, startled when Lilith unexpectedly stepped forward and smiled at her. Lilith took Mrs Shelbyâs left hand in both of hers. Her thumb brushed over the sapphire. Her eyes pierced into Mrs Shelbyâs hypnotically and Mrs Shelby found herself transfixed as Thomas brushed a hand up and down her back, comfortinglyâŠ. obliviously.
âSister.â Lilith tested the word on her tongue as she surveyed Mrs Shelby. âYouâll be good to him, yes?â She sounded so innocent. So angelic. Her eyes held no malice. Mrs Shelby stuttered.
âY-Yes. I shall try to be all that he deserves.â
Lilith beamed at her and released her hand. Mrs Shelbyâs ring finger throbbed momentarily as she watched her fascinating sister turn and enter the drawing room with Jack. She saw through the reflection in the mirror as Polly embraced her niece tightly and was startled to see Lilithâs reflection gazing predatorily through the looking glass at her.
*****
Dinner was a fucking disaster. It had been nothing like she had hoped. Perhaps she was just projecting her own fears but it seemed that none of them liked herâŠ. even the ones who appeared to. It seemed as though they were watching her every move with a pre-existing negative judgement. She was guilty to them, of something. The problem was she didnât know what and she didnât know how to change that. Tommy had enough to deal with, especially after Tatiana had goaded Jack into a row and she was swearing at him in Russian. Arthur had had way too much to drink. Scarlet was screaming at Tommy for something heâd done years ago and Luca was trying desperately to calm her down. She turned to look at Michael, who was in a heated discussion with GinaâŠand Aurora kept throwing her dirty looks. In the end sheâd left the table, claiming to check on dessert. Sheâd just found a quiet alcove to take a few moments when someone touched her shoulder. She jolted and turned to see Lilith.
âFeeling overwhelmed?â Her voice was so soft, sympathy swirled in her onyx eyes.
   âA little.â
A lot. Iâve bitten off more than I can chew.
âI know. We can be a lot to handle.â She looked out into the darkened garden. âWhy donât we go for a walk.â She suggested. âTake a moment to ourselves.â Mrs Shelbyâs heart soared at the prospect of having a moment alone with someone who might actually like her and in doing so, might sway the opinion of the others. She nodded and took Lilithâs offered arm as the two of them stepped out into the cool autumn air.
It hadnât been long since they had returned from their honeymoon and so Mrs Shelby hadnât yet had time to explore the grounds of the Arrow House properly. In the dark murkiness of the evening she couldnât really see where she was going and clutched on to Lilithâs bare arm a little closer for security. She smelt dizzyingly alluring. Away from all the smoke and whiskey the magic of her perfumed the air in a wonderful way.Â
âHow did you meet my brother, if you donât mind me asking?â
âDaâs one of his employees at Shelby Company ltd. I met Tommy when I brought Da his lunch.â
   âHowâŠ. quaint.â
Mrs Shelby wasnât paying attention. She was too bust staring at the purple love bites littering Lilithâs creamy throat. Lilith flushed and giggled when she noticed.
âIâm sorry, I should have covered up more, Jack can get carried away some times.â
   âHeâs very fond of you.â
âAnd I, him.â Lilith patted Mrs Shelbyâs hand. âI never expected to find Jack. But heâs my better half. As Heaven is Arthurâs and Luca is Scarletâs. We were worried Thomas would never find someoneâŠ.worthy.â Lilith stopped her movements and released Mrs Shelbyâs arm. For the first time, Mrs Shelby noticed her surroundings. Lilith had brought her to the churchyard close to the Arrow House. She turned, only just able to see the outline of it looming in the moonlight. She shivered, looking back to Lilith who was now staring at something in front of her. âThomas has very specific needs.â Her voice had lost all of its warmth. Mrs Shelbyâs mouth ran dry as she read the names on the gravestones in front of her.
Grace Burgess Shelby.
Daughter, Mother, Beloved Wife.
Elizabeth Stark Shelby
Mother, wife, friend. Lost to childbirth.
Something rustled behind them. Lilith turned and smiled adoringly as Jack stepped out of the shadows. Mrs Shelby wondered how he had known where to find them. âYou have to be a certain kind of person to survive in this family. Donât you, my love?â
âYa got that right. Itâs an honour to love a ShelbyâŠto be prepared to kill and die for them.â
âThomas needs a fighter.â Lilith reached out and caressed Mrs Shelbyâs cheek. âYou didnât fight tonight. You fled, little mouse.â Lilith tutted and stepped closer, so close, Mrs Shelby could feel Lilithâs sweet, warm breath burning against her flesh. âHow can I trust that youâll fulfil him?â Lilith shook her head, looking sad, disappointed even. Jack brushed his wifeâs hair off her shoulder, exposing her flesh. He pressed a kiss into the crook of her neck. Mrs Shelby watched Lilith relax a little. âYouâre not good enough for him.â Lilith purred softly, Jackâs lips and tongue trailed down Lilithâs neck as she spoke. âNeither of them were, either.â She glanced to the gravestones behind her. âI was lucky with Lizzie; God took care of her. But I had to intervene with Grace.â
âB-but weâre happy.â Mrs Shelby spluttered, fear creeping into her voice every second longer that she spent in Lilithâs presence.
âFor now. Until he realises that youâre not enough for him.â She paused, relishing in the look of despair on Mrs Shelbyâs features. âDonât worry. Heâll be happier than ever with Eva. Theyâll be perfect together.â Jack hummed in agreement with his beloved and imprinted his teeth in a perfect love bite into her neck as she slid home a beautiful carved and somewhat bejewelled blade into Mrs Shelbyâs sternum. Mrs Shelby gasped in pain, a sharp sound leaving her soft lips. âSheâs earned him, you havenât.â Lilith continued as she twisted the hilt, a horrible tearing noise was heard before Lilith let go. Mrs Shelby staggered back and fell back against the willow tree overhanging the makeshift graveyard. Lilith looked down at her blood spattered fingers. Lifting them to her face she licked one, smearing her lips in the substance. Greedily, Jack took her fingers and painted his own mouth with them. Lilith spun in Jackâs arms, giggling and moaning as their lips fused, unbuckling his belt. She murmured something to him and he acquiesced without question, sitting and leaning back against Graceâs headstone. Lilith slipped her dress over her head until she was wearing barely anything in the coldness of the autumn night. She straddled Jack, kissing him deeply before sliding down onto him in the ghostly glow of the full moon.
Mrs Shelby heaved, opening her mouth. She tried to call for help but no sound emerged. Instead she found herself mute, only coughing and spluttering on the crimson blood as it tried to liberate itself from her mouth. Her vision grew blurry for a moment as tears gathered and obscured her sight.
And then she saw them.
The ghosts of Grace Burgess and Lizzie Stark, both completely drenched in blood and staring in horror, not at her but at Lilith and Jack, as he flipped his wife over and took her like an animal. Lizzieâs expression was melancholic. Her hair loose and wild, eyes ceaselessly spilling tears and her mouth agape in silent cries of agony. Her body had been slit open from chest to lower abdomen and still, even in death, she was bleeding. Grace stood beside her still in the gown she wore the night she was murdered. the bullet wound on her chest still wept even though she didnât. Her face was curiously, disturbingly calm. The sapphire around her neck pulsed and throbbed and pulsed and throbbed. And suddenly Grace wasnât looking at Lilith and Jack anymore, her pale grey eyes locking onto her second replacement. Mrs Shelby found herself growing shivery and yet unable to move, unable to scramble backwards as the sapphire whispered to her over and over some kind of spell in Romani. The curseâŠ. she recalled hazily as she forced her limbs in an attempt to move. Tommy believed it had been cursed by the Russians. Mrs Shelbyâs fingers dug into the soil as she pushed herself up into a sitting position. Every movement was excruciating in both pain and in effort. Her eyes fluttered closed in exhaustion and the spell of the sapphire seemed to sing louder and louder, itâs feminine voice echoing seductively in her ears. She realised it was coming not only from the necklace Graceâs ghost wore, but also from the ring on her engagement finger. Struggling, she tried desperately to remove it. But to no avail, it was as though it had fused to her flesh, strangling her finger.
Mrs Shelbyâs eyes snapped open. Just in time to see the ghost of Grace stood over her.
âI should feel sorry for you.â Grace whispered. âYouâre a victim of this family, just like me.â She paused, licking her discoloured corpse lips. Grace heard it too. She heard that it was Lilithâs voice cursing her inside the blue sapphires, not Tatianaâs. âAnd Tommy does love you.â There was a moment of silence. âBut⊠Iâve come to realise something.â Grace leaned down and kissed Mrs Shelbyâs lips, her ghostly fingers coming up to wrap around Mrs Shelbyâs throat. âIf I canât have TommyâŠâ Grace murmured as she pulled back looking deeply into Mrs Shelbyâs eyes.
Her grip tightened...and tightenedâŠand tightened. Mrs Shelby choked and spluttered, her body convulsing. The last thing she saw was Lilithâs dark eyes staring at her over Jackâs shoulder, her nails digging into his back as he held her to him. And Graceâs hoarse voice looming over her.
âThen no one can.â Â

Just One Last Present
This is for the lovely Flor @justrainandcoffee , whoâs incredible OCâs - Rose Solomons - birthday is today (Iâve got roughly 30 minutes to midnight here). Iâm terribly sorry that I didnât formally attend the birthday party that she was thrown ⊠I hope you can accept this rather late present.
Thank you for creating this wonderful woman and sharing her and Alfieâs story with us. I still canât believe this amazing world that youâve created around here.
Hereâs to many more stories and birthdays! â€ïž
Rose was thankful to finally be dressed in comfortable clothing. Sure, she enjoyed every second of the surprise party that Alfie threw her on one of her favorite beaches, but wearing a fancy dress and mask and walking around in the sand all evening had sure worn her out.
She had just lowered herself down onto the couch, right next to Cyril, who was sprawled out and already fast asleep. A soft laugh escaped her lips as she pet him gently. The pooch had had the time of his life earlier; getting many treats and compliments on his dapper attire.
She let out a sigh of content as she dropped her head back against the couch, closing her eyes and soaking in the silence. Today was a good day, she thought to herself, smiling as the events played in her mind.
She was so deep in her reverie that she didnât hear the footsteps sounding off of the hardwood. Because of this, she just about jumped in surprise when something was set down on her lap.
âWhatâs this, Al?â she asked her husband, confusion now present on her face as she tried to figure out how he managed to sneak in without her noticing.
âBet you thought my company was all I was goinâ to give you,â he answered her, a grin present on his face.
âYouâve given me plenty today,â she answered him, her heart swelling just thinking of all of the things heâd done for her over the course of the day. Alfie shook his head in disagreement, nodding to the present as a non-verbal direction for her to open it. âReally, Alfie, you have.â
âJust one last present, Rosie,â he insisted.
Rose titled her head slightly, staring at him for a moment to see if he might take the gift back. She should have known better to even think that. With a soft sigh, she accepted defeat (like it was so hard to) and looked down at the present sitting in her lap.
The wrapping was beautifully doneâŠshe almost didnât want to open it. The pattern on it was floral and blue, and it was tied together with a big, powder blue bow on top.
âGo on, love,â Alfie softly prompted her to continue, watching intently as she began to untie the bow.
Silence hung in the air as she went about the motions of pulling away the wrapping paper. A box greeted her when she had placed the outer layer aside. It had no giveaways on it, and it made her look to her husband with furrowed brows.
Alfie gave no hints either, and it prompted her to keep going. Slowly, she lifted the lid of the box. A gasp left her lips when she discovered what was inside.
âAlfie,â she breathed, her eyes now wide, âis thisâŠ?â
âThe one you were lookinâ at,â he finished her question before she could ask it.
Roseâs eyes stayed locked on the absolutely stunning diamond necklace as she tried to decipher if she was dreaming or not. Sheâd look at it almost every time sheâd go into town, and she always wonder what it would look like draped around her neck. Now it was sitting in her lap. It was hers.
âThis mustâve cost a fortune,â she commented, finally looking up at Alfie again, her eyes still wide.
âYouâre worth it,â Alfie concluded, his tone leaving no room for discussion.
The widest smile formed on Roseâs face as she heard Alfieâs declaration. She haphazardly placed the box down beside her â Cyril didnât even mind that it bonked him on the nose â and stood from the couch to wrap her arms tightly around her husbandâs shoulders. âI love you, Alfie,â she breathed as happy tears formed in her eyes. âThis was the best birthday I could have ever asked for.â
âI love you, Rosie,â Alfie responded, smiling at his wife as she pulled away to look at him once more. She looked so sweet, her smile nearly touching her ears as her eyes shined with tears. âHappy birthday,â he whispered one last time before leaning in and kissing her.
A happy birthday, indeed.
I decided to write this because I remembered this lovely necklace from one of the polls you shared. I hope it made sense, and that you enjoyed it!
I also realized while I was making the moodboard that one of Juneâs birth flowers is the rose ⊠did that play into her name? Or was it a beautiful coincidence?
Happy Birthday, Rose!!

Strings of Fate
Thanks @justrainandcoffee for having the dream that inspired Forbidden and this happier au and happy birthday đ đ„ł
Cw: smut, infertility, Tommyâs canon fertility issues, cheating

Rose Coldwell needed a husband to escape Lawerence Evertt and the Shelbys could use someone to help Polly and Ada with Finn and Johnâs now motherless children.
His marriage was one of convenience and no matter what they did, it just didnât work.
âI cannot have children,â his wife had admitted when they held Adaâs baby and Tommy wondered if they could try and have some happiness of their own.
The Romani Gangster had never held that against her, he was fond of her and cared for her like he cares for all his family, and when he realized the place Alfie Solomons had in her heart, Tom supposed it was a blessing in disguise.
He didnât stop her; it wasnât as if he hadnât resumed his visits to Lizzie nor dallied with Grace in hopes of filling that hollowness in his chest. The least he could do for her is to ignore her visits to Camden Town and believe her lies.
Once business is done, he will broach the topic of a divorce. Tommy would use his own affairs to place the blame squarely on his shoulders and make sure her reputation remains spotless.
He needs Camden Town, Alfie Solomons would have no choice but to ally with him and help him take London or heâd never set her free. It is the only reason he is taking on Sabini now that both Kimber and Evertt are dead and gone.
Alfieâs no fool, his own wife was a Smith whose grandmother lived in Small Heath. If Tommy wanted, he could hurt her, but he wouldnât. Heâs not like that.
Sheâs a beauty, heâs seen her in the neighborhood enough times to know Mr. Solomons is a lucky man. Sheâs friends with Ada, on good terms with Polly and Finn adores her. Had he met her sooner perhaps, Eva Solomons would be Eva Shelby.
âIf my husband were a jealous man, you would be pushing daisies, Mr. Shelby.â The witch says in Rromani as she looks at the wares in the shop that makes his suits.
âSomething you must thank my wife for, I suppose.â His words hit their mark as she stills for a moment before regaining composure. They speak of the matter in their shared tongue, and no one here would report anything but mere speculation to his aunt, Chester Campbell and Sabini.
She and Rose are friends, even if dear Rosie thinks Eva isnât aware of her relationship with her husband. What her reasons are for feigning ignorance about their affair is something Tommy intends to find out.
âHe goes his way, I go mine.â The woman answered his unspoken question and refuses to turn and look at him. âSame agreement you have with Rose.â
âCanât fill the emptiness either, Mrs. Solomons.â Even the name feels wrong, just as Rose Shelby does.
Tommy looks at a bolt of fine black lace and suggests it to her with a calculated look on his face to sell the lie. As far as Polly will know, he is merely convincing Eva Solomons to convince her husband to free Arthur and claim Billy Kitchenâs death as his doing.
âIf you wish to seduce me, Shelby, you should try harder. I like to be wooed.â The witch dismissed his words and before she could ring up the shopkeeper to buy it, he orders the man at the counter to put in on his tab.
He pays for his suits now. Never leaves a debt unpaid and tips generously, he even vets his whores after Grace took advantage of his weakness in the name of the Law.
Tommy Shelby should remember how that hurt him and his family as he courts the Witch of Camden Town.
But he cannot help it, there is something pulling him to her that he hasnât felt since Greta. Like an invisible string connecting his rotten soul to hers.
âYour cousin, Wag, said your husband refused your tickets to Chaplin's party after what he did to my brother and my men at his Seder.â The Gangster wanted revenge, he had an ace up his sleeve to get Alfie Solomons to have the police sergeant in his pocket release Arthur and his men.
This was more than just a play against Evaâs husband and Roseâs lover, this was Tommy Shelby being led by his stupid broken heart to see where that string of fate leads him to. Not his cock this time, though the woman beside him ignited all sorts of want with that feel of magic about her.
âI want you to wear that lace for me and after that, we will go to my sisterâs place in London, and we will fuck until we forget what our spouses are doing in that property they think we donât know about.â He comes close enough to breathe in the soft rose water and vanilla and that touch of myrrh and frankincense left over from incense to enhance her supernatural abilities.
Tommy Shelby doesnât know what heâll do is she says no.
âTell Ada to leave the lights on and the front door unlocked, I will be arriving there before you to keep Sabini off my tail.â Eva turns and looks at him over her shoulder with an enigmatic smile.
She doesnât wear black lace.
She wears a jet beaded dress with a satin slip underneath with her dark hair curled and lips painted with the lipstick Rose will find on his collar tomorrow.
He shouldnât want her, her husband could kill his brother for this, but Tommy Shelby cannot help himself.
He hardly remembers the party as the heady smell of witchcraft and roses stirred a fire within him he hasnât felt in almost a decade. Grace had been there with her husband, but he had paid her no mind as he came to know the bewitching woman on his arm.
âYou behave as if you were a man starved for love.â Her eyes are dark with want and her quiet laugh betrays how mutual this burning he feels is.
âAs starved as you are, love.â Tommy cannot even bother to check the coast was clear as he kisses her hungrily at Adaâs doorstep.
Despite the need to sate the hunger they feel, they take their time, stumbling to the couch where they donât bother removing their clothes. Any attempt to strip her of her fine clothes is met with a wicked grin, as he ran is hands up her silky skin and felt the lace he had paid for as she sank down on his hand.
âYou said I had to wear the lace, you never said how.â The witch said against his mouth before kissing like a high-end whore.
âI need you.â He groans against the column of her neck as he kisses every freckle Solomons takes for granted and matches the slow pace sheâs set. âEvie, I need you.â
Sex with Rose was good, a bit tame, but enough to scratch the itch. This was different, as if heâd known the witch before, as if he hadnât been meant for anyone else except her.
âYou donât even know me, Tommy.â She pulled him back to her mouth as she rid him of his vest, gun holster and every item between her long black nails and his bare chest.
She could tear out his heart from his chest and heâd let her, just to fill that hollowness inside him.
They donât stay in the couch, neither wanted the night to end and in silence decided theyâd greet the dawn clad only in sin. The bed would be where they fuck in earnest, where he will take advantage of his own lack of fertility to ensure Solomons stays none the wiser.
Tommy takes his time peeling off the lingerie she wore only for him, kissing every inch of her and letting the sense of déjà vu guide and reward him with sounds he bets Alfie cannot string from her.
God was always cruel to him, to give him a soulmate and give her to a man who doesnât worship her like she deserves. He tells her so when after feasts on her cunt like a man starved.
âThen show your goddess how a true believer should worship her.â She pulled him up and tasted herself in his tongue as he made love to her until she wept from the ecstasy.
Dawn paints her skin golden, and her eyes turn the color of his favorite whiskey, he wished he could wake every morning like this.
âWho knew Mr. Shelby was a poet?â the witch reads his thoughts and hears him use poetry to describe the naked goddess he's still inside of.
âWho knew soulmates were real?â their hands interlock as they lay together basking in the afterglow, pretending they donât have cages to return to.
Tommy Shelby knows he must make her part of the deal: he will set Rose free only if Alfie does the same with Eva.
He canât let her go, even if heâs only known her for a day or two, he knows he canât live without her.
They all return home; Rose smells of Alfie and he smells of Eva. It is the first of many, they know it when Rose takes Adaâs old bedroom and Tommyâs in his own bed and both dream of their lovers.
Neither feel hurt as they did before when the guilt ate at Rose even if heâs never been loyal to her, the callous too thick to let them feel their sins burning against their conscious and damning them to hell once more.
âI hadnât planned to tell you this until the Derby ended, but I will set you free. Our deal has been honored and you no longer need my protection in the form of a wedding ring and my last name.â It sounds cold and cruel to everyone but them.
Rose cries in relief and joy as she hugs him in gratitude. Heâs set up the date with their lawyer, paid extra to have it done faster and even sought the Rabbi in Roseâs Temple to ask whether he needs a Get so his soon-to-be ex-wife can marry his loverâs husband.
Even if he does die today, he will die as Evaâs fiancĂ© and not Roseâs husband.
âRose and I declared our marriage over, and unless you do the same, I will blow your fine establishment up to marry your wife. The choice is yours, Solomons.â The gangster fears death and yet fears nothing today, but he trusts his witch. His witch who told him the grave he will dig is meant to show him how expendable he is to his new master.
Everything would fall into place and all would be right in the worldâŠfor them at least.
That night, still reeking of graveyard dirt and a manâs blood, he spends it in Evaâs arms in the sprawling house she will rule over as its rightful queen.
âHow soon can we marry?â she holds on tightly to him as if they may wake up from this dream any moment.
âBefore you start showing, I hope.â Tommy answers guessing why sheâd even ask in the first place.
And so, they marry, in the last days of summer with a special license as their former spouses do the same in Margate.
Whether Charles Absalom Shelby is named for his uncle or Charlie Chaplin, is something only the new couple will know.

BACK TO THE 20'S - 4

Alfie & Rose Solomons belong to @raincoffeeandfandoms
âFirst, however, there are those upon this land that need protection, and I hear, Ms. Rose, that you are in need of some guards and those to teach them. It would be my divine honor to help in that matter. All female, of course, and to also help the children and women learn basic things they can do to help them should they ever be cornered. We women are not nearly as frail and fragile as the men would like to believe. It is such a joy to remind them of that, in the most painful of ways.â A devious smile formed on her lips, one that went all the way to her eyes causing the corners to crease. âAnd then we can talk about the beautiful ravens.â Gynnifer smiled brightly now, oh how she did love her birds!
âYes, you mentioned your ravens, Miss Gynnifer.â Rose said, smiling over at the other woman. âYou can help train my staff and bring your own? And these ravens of yours will be of help?â She thought back to the bird who had come at Gynniferâs calling with the liquor. It did make her curious about any birds trained by her.
âI have trained many under the employ of Ms. Annabella and Mr. Jasper within New Orleans. There are things that can be done by your staff, staff I can bring, and the women and children themselves. Everything in degrees of experience and application.â Gynnifer explained patiently. She was nearly as old as Annabella, it was not the first time she had explained her methods to someone. She had trained herself at Anna and Jasperâs side long ago. Now she was their head trainer, for all things. âThe ravens, ducks, and even geese that are natural to these lands can be of great use to us. Birds are often overlooked, flying over our heads. This makes them the perfect surveillance and security system for those who need early warning for when danger approaches.â She blinked slowly and inclined her head to the woman with a soft smile. âGynnifer is known for training all our new operatives in our organization in New Orleans. I would put her trainees up against the worst of Shelbyâs men any day, and I guarantee you that they would be the ones walking away.â Anna winked at Rose. Her association with Tommy was well known, so for her to make such a statement held weight. "You never send a man to do a woman's job."Â
"If you'd like, Mrs. Rose, I can have some of the ladies I've trained in New Orleans come over to assist while we are training staff here in England. They can stand as testament to your ladies here that they do not need to be afraid and also what proper training can do. This is true for staff and those hiding here from the evils they've endured." While Gynnifer tended to be a more reserved and serious woman, she had a softer expression and tone at the end of her statement.  While she loathed, with a passion that rivaled the heat of a supernova star, those who dared to raise a hand to children or women, for those who had endured such abuse, she had nothing but compassion.  In her life she had seen far too much to feel otherwise.Â
"If that wouldn't be too much trouble, that sounds wonderful! It would help raise their spirits to see those that are able to defend themselves and not be afraid. And for our staff, it would show that what we are proposing is possible." Rose beamed as excitement grew. Her dream of protecting the innocent and abused was growing and fully materializing.
"It will be no trouble at all. I'll send a wire tomorrow to have several pack and come over as soon as possible." Anna laid her hand on her good friend's and squeezed softly.  "I know you'll adore them all."
"And I dare any man to try to burn down your headquarters again with my ladies and our ravens guarding it." A devious smile alighted Gynniferâs lips. "They will wish it were you husbandâs men they met." A wink and a smirk were cast to Rose, whom Gynnifer was becoming quite fond of.
"You mention your ravens again. I know you said they act as a warning and surveillance. We will be grateful for that while you are here, but what can be done for when you leave? Please do not think we are not grateful!â Rose inquired, trying to not sound ungrateful or demanding at the same time.
âOh darling, we wonât leave you defenseless. Poe and Nevermore both recently had chicks. I would be more than happy to bless you with your own starter flock of ravens that are trained from birth by my people so that they are loyal to you and your staff. While we are training you all on defending yourselves, we can train you as well on raven care and rearing. Youâll have more ravens than you know what to do with soon.â Gynnifer laughed and gave her new friend a brilliant smile. She did so love introducing new people to the wonderful world of ravens. Blessing these women with a new crop of her beloved birdâs offspring would be lovely. âAnd once you learn how to train them, you can also give them to the women who live here so they have protection and warning when they leave. I have found, in my years of experience, that men of a certain type can beâŠpersistent.â
There was a certain inflection on the last word that Gynnifer spoke that made it clear exactly what she meant without having to expressly specify it. Anna inclined her head towards the dark haired female, a knowing and tight smile forming on her lips. âYes, and that is why, dear Rose, that I would only entrust your establishments here to the best of my best.â 200 years had passed since she had been Roseâs age, and she had learned and seen a lot in that time. If she could prevent another woman from experiencing it, well all the better.
****
Back at Alfie and Roseâs home, the men were still discussing liquor and smuggling. Jasper kept having to remind himself that not only was he not to eat Alfie, which he had already decided was not something he was interested in, but he was also not to have him sign over his soul. Anna really did like to spoil the demonâs fun sometimes. She really should be more appreciative of the fact he adored her.
As they sat now discussing cigar imports for Alfie, Jasper could feel the humanâs eyes studying him. While not as scrutinizing and sharp as Annaâs friend Tommy Shelby, another human that was off the menu, they were just as heavy on the demon. Curious how his favorite Grigori had made friends with two humans who were so meticulous in their review of a being, yet failed to notice that neither of them were human. Even in New Orleans there was the occasional human that would figure it out, rarely with as much attention paid as Mr. Solomons was currently paying Jasper. Although, again, Alfie could not become a snack if he figured it out, so Jasper had to be very careful not to let anything slip.
Thankfully Alfie was paying more attention to the negotiations on profit sharing than anything that might give Jasper away. Since the only snacks hadn't been living for some time, there was no worry of accidentally eating something still alive.  He'd learned long ago that tended to freak humans out, especially if the snack were another human.

đźđœđ¶đđâđ đłđđ¶đ đ
đ¶đđđ, 6th December
In the middle of his chaos there was her, there had always been her, the only flower that grown in lifeless soil. As soft and enchanting as she was, Rose Solomons had been standing by his side in raging storms and murderous tempests, keeping him from breaking so many times Alfie had lost count. Offering her a peaceful life near the beach was the least could do. And each time he looked at their daughter playing with the sand, her motherâs hat on her head and a smile beaming, he knew he was the luckiest man on earth.
To celebrate Christmas Iâve been using my free time lately to create 23 gifts that are already programmed, most of them for my beloved Peaky blinders mutuals. Iâll post one gift per day until Christmas, so stay tuned in because yours are coming. You just donât know when! đ-Iâm a day late with this one but I was working all day and evening, so Iâll post two gifts today. -

Rose x Alfie Moodboard
"What problem?" asked her.
"Criminality."
"But Alfie didn't do anything, everyone knows he runs a bakery and nothing else. There's nothing to prove that..."
"No Alfie, you," interrupted her brother, "your prison records."
"Is this a joke?" exclaimed the woman, raising her voice, "are you making fun of me?"
Alfie giggled. "I married a criminal."
This little blurb is my favourite part from 'Rose Coldwell x Alfie Solomons', here you can find the amazing Masterlist from @justrainandcoffee. Do yourself a favour and go check it out, even if you are not an Alfie fan (I wasn't), you will became one.
I am not sure if I did them justice, Flor. I wanted to create a moodboard only with Rosie, to celebrate her, but Alfie was being a freaking child about it. Every time I was done, he was complaining about not being included. Apparently, in my crazy brain, there is no Rosie without Alfie, so... I am sorry, Rose, he pushed me around until I relented and included him too. I just want to add how important your stories and this amazing character are to me. It was one of the first blogs I was introduced to when I fell into the rabbit hole of Tumblr's PB. I know it's nothing special, but she deserves all the celebrations in the world <3 Thank you, Flor, for sharing her with us and letting us join in on Rosie and Alfie's shenanigans <3

âHow come youâre not in any of the pictures, Alfie?â ⊠âCause I canât compete with you or the views, Rose.â
Alfie and Rose decide to take a winter getaway to Iceland once the travel restrictions are lifted. When Rose goes back through the photos taken of all of the wonderful sights, she finds that Alfie wasnât in any of them. Of course Alfie had a reason for that.
âââ
For the lovely Flor @raincoffeeandfandoms â I had to make a little something for Rose and Alfie because I miss seeing them on my dash ⊠Iâll just pretend that the modern couple was away on a little vacation and thatâs why we hadnât heard from them. I hope you like it! đ§Ą

The Wandering
summary: the Nelsons visit the Wandering Jew on Halloween and Rose makes the mistake of asking Eva to investigate the ghost as well as the strange vibe the hotel has.
cw: mentions of injuries and blood, fascism, drinking and unsafe witchcraft, cheating
rose and alfie(as well as their stories) belong to @justrainandcoffee

Their first trip after the pandemic was to London to visit Katie and her husband.
Its Halloween and because they donât want to make things awkward with his sister and her husband ---because Eva has baby fever after seeing his baby niece---, they stay at the Wandering Jew.
They knew the owners, Rose and Alfie even if neither Jack nor Alfie could stand each other. They were more Eva and Katieâs friends than his and suddenly he and Alfie are sharing a rum bottle because Rose swears thereâs a ghost in this place and Eva dabbles in witchcraft.
Jack wouldnât lie and say he doesnât believe her if their room and the hall it was didnât give him a nauseating sense of dĂ©jĂ vu.
The painting with a red bearded knight and the lady that reminded him of Eva had been the first, then the dent on the simple candleholder felt like heâd been the one to drop it and the bed board ,to top it all off, had their initials in a heart with todayâs date.
âDo you think itâs safe?â Alfie asks Jack who he assumes knows the answer as he takes another candy from the obnoxiously huge bag of Halloween candy theyâd brought from the States at Roseâs request.
âFuck if I know.â Jack takes a swig of the rum bottle having no fucking clue what this will bring.
And then they woke up alone in the waiting room with a hangover. The Hotel looked the same when he went upstairs to his room expecting to find a sleeping Eva whoâs going to tease him for getting blackout drunk last night.
The door opens to reveal a medieval castle, Eva dressed exactly like the woman in the painting and talking like sheâs in a Shakespearean play. And because he thought it was just a crazy sex dream, he let Princess Eva led him to the bedroom only to find himself alone and back in the hall of the Wandering Jew.
Not only that he is wearing the heavy steel armor, but the red beard heâd kill to grow out like that and even worse, completely sober.
Had to be a dream, mustâve been the rum, the candy and the takeout they had last night.
âFucking hell, what sort of ritual did Evie do?â Alfie, dressed in simple medieval clothes, appears from a different room.
One moment theyâre trying to communicate with the ghost haunting the place and the next Evaâs the princess in the painting.
Sheâd assumed it was a dream and didnât stop the Knight from trying to fuck her and calling her his wife. After all, it was Jack in the armor and of course sheâd be turned on by him in 17th century armor. Then she went out the door to see the rest of the castle only to find herself dressed in the same clothes the knight was supposed to be taking off her.
A little disappointing, to be honest, Knight!Jack had promised to go down on her and itâs been so long since Jack had his beard that long.
âAm I dreaming? I was just in the most beautiful cottage, and I was going to go outside to see Alfie and now Iâm back here, wearing this!â Rose is still dazed from whatever she saw. âWhere are we?â
âI have no fucking clue.â The witch answered wanting to know if she can go back to that fantasy she just left. Taking Roseâs hand to try something, she opens Roseâs door.
It is not the medieval cottage sheâd described. This time they are in none other than the motherfucking Titanic. They donât even have time to admire their beautiful clothes as they run behind Alfie hoping to get off the fucking boat.
But they canât get on that boat, they came through a door and any door there would return them to dry land in the haunted hotel. In a moment of confusion, they leave Alfie Solomons and stumble out of the hotel room wearing the clothes of high society women in 1912.
If there was a way to keep them, Eva would do it in a heartbeat. Still, she throws the jewelry into the vase just in case.
âI hope the next one is in the modern world.â Jack complains as they walk back to the hall from the magical woodland they left.
They were dressed in fantasy-medieval-esque clothing, it was not the steel armor but the Americanâs breeches were a little too snug and he looked like fucking Fabio complete with long flowing locks while Alfie looked more comfortably dressed.
Alfie doesnât change much; Jack just moments ago had a sick ass beard covered in his normal body hair and now heâs as smooth as a fucking dolphin.
âNext time Evie does her voodoo shit, Iâm kicking the two of you out of my hotel.â Alfie stares at his hand in amazement considering heâd been bleeding sparkly red blood from the thrones because the door chucked him straight onto the thorns.
âThatâs not my fault, your wife convinced her to do it.â The Bostonian points out missing his scruff and buzz cut. âShouldâve booked a normal hotel room when she wasnât looking, couldâve been making Gina a cousin instead of trapped in fucking limbo.â
âWhen did Katie have a kid?â Alfie asks, thinking theyâd somehow missed that thanks to the pandemic.
Jack had been wonderfully spared Laurieâs second wedding and only seen his and Carolineâs IVF journey whenever he was looking at their Instagram over Evaâs shoulder.
But of course, they had to meet the baby for the baptism ---Jack was the godfather because Laurie has no real friends--- and Eva had to bring up having one of their own. After all they were pestered by everyone about the topic and then Eva later brought it up knowing heâd agree to give it a try.
âLaurie, my half-brother in New York.â Jack clarified as they headed towards the next door.
The doors on the left were Jackâs, the doors on the right were Alfieâs, or so they figured after they walked into Alfieâs fantasy shit.
âThe racist one?â the Jew asks having heard what a piece of shit Jackâs older brother is from Katie and Rose who met him once in New York.
âWhat other brother do I have?â Jack doesnât bother hiding it anymore, Laurie always opened his trap and ruined every first impression anyways. âHopefully baby Gina wonât take after him.â
They enter the door; Jack is dressed like Laurie and has more pomade in his hair than when grandpa dressed him for church on Sundays as a kid.
A tall blonde woman looking eerily like Carrie with Laurieâs bad vibes takes him by the arm and introduced him to an English couple and Ada Throne, Evaâs museum curator ex-girlfriend who happened to be Tommy Shelbyâs sister. As if they hadnât seen the fucker in Alfieâs past doors twice already.
Alfieâs swing at the man and shoves off the blonde woman beside him calling him slurs.
âWhere did you even dig up this thing, uncle? I thought you wanted to fascists in your pocket?â Gina asks and Jack drags Alfie back out the door wondering where the fuck Eva was.
âNazis! Your niece was introducing you to fucking Oswald Mosely and his bitch of a wife, Lady Hitler!â Alfie is breathing hard and reeling from what went on inside the room.
How do you even begin to explain that?
âWhy do you have a crucifix?â the American points at the last thing he expected Alfred Solomons to have.
Alfie looks at the thing in confusion before tossing it as far away from him as he could.
âCutest fucking baby Iâve seen. Makes me wanna have one.â Eva talks Roseâs ear off as they open the door to Evaâs side and reveal a horde of screaming kids at a birthday party and Jack nowhere to be found.
The witch shuts the door and opens it again several times hoping to change the scene. But it doesnât and instead both women brace themselves because at least they can get cake out of this.
Itâs loud, Evaâs being hugged by several children who look like her and Jack and the calendar says 1930.
She knows this place, itâs in Cape Cod and the home to the political family that shares her husbandâs last name. And sure, Jack looks like the guy who bought it and sired seven influential people that included two presidents, but it shouldnât mean they are the same fucking people.
For fuck's sake Evaâs family was related to them. Well, had a common ancestor, Eva is no blood relation to the Nelson family. Evita Nelson ---whom sheâs named after--- was her great-grandfather, Francisco Rileyâs, first cousin.
But there it is, a portrait of the family with Eva wearing the same locket she has on now. She hadnât noticed that on every door they step through it never changes, like Roseâs ring.
âThese are our past lives. The hotel isnât haunted, it knows us.â The witch turns to her friend who looks at the ring on her hand coming to the same conclusion. âItâs trying to tell us.â
âWeâre soulmates?â Rose asks her, not meaning them but meaning their two respective relationships. âLike born to find each other in every lifetime, like the movies?â
âOnly one way to find out.â They leave the seaside manor and return to the hotel.
The rooms are in chronological order, starting with the Renaissance Era and now in the 1930s. Eventually they would reach the modern era, and this would fucking end on November 1st, All Soulâs Day.
âHave you noticed Rose wears the same ring and Eva the same locket?â Alfie asks having formed a new theory after they left a beach house in Margate where his ex-boyfriend shot him in the fucking face.
âShelby appears half as much, I know the two of you fucked the prick, but that canât mean heâs your soulmate.â Jack points out, as they take a break between doors.
Jack had gone to his and woken up in the same bed with Eva wearing nothing but the locket and teasing him for carving their names in the hotelâs bed.
It had been October 31, 1924.
Then heâd found himself appearing on a beach with Rose clutching to a barely breathing Alfie. Had Jack not hauled the injured man to his house, Alfie Solomons from the 21st century wouldâve died in 1924.
âAn eternal thorn in my side, then.â The Jewish man jokes and looks in the mirror to find his face whole. âHow did you end up in Margate with me?â
âOpened the bathroom door at the Ritz-Carelton in 1924 to take a piss and ended up inside the house. Apparently in Halloween 1924, I came to London on business and carved our initials on the bed board drunk as hell.â The Boston native answered and looked at the clock, it was just a few minutes shy of midnight.
Before that door heâd been an Irish immigrant in New York coming home with the candleholder that fell from his hands and dented right where the one in the hotel had it. Alfie claimed there had been floating subtitles, but Jack used what little Gaelige he knew from his grandparents to get by.
But that made them figure out theyâre moving towards the present from the past, and because it was getting closer to morning, theyâd soon end up back in 2024.
âThe distillery in 1919 became your hotel, in 1924 you sold it and moved to the wherever the fuck that beach was---â the American goes over what theyâve learned so far.
âMargate, where I got some of the things at a shop there.â Alfie supplied and added to the list, âEven Roseâs ring. Where did you buy the locket?â
âAntique shop in Boston, had our initials on the back. Jack Nelson, who I was named after, was from the South End too, had a wife named Eva, and now Iâm thinking these may have been our past lives.â Now that he says it out loud it feels obvious. All of them had the same names ---except Martin Feeney--- come to think of it.
âIf we werenât stuck in this place, I wouldâve told you, youâd lost it, Yankee.â
They tried to sleep and see if they woke up and yet the door tossed them in the 1980s where they look great as hell and are, apparently, anarchists.
Since the jewelry from the Titanic hadnât disappeared ---even if Eva forgot about putting it there in the first place--- Eva tossed the lighter she took from biker!Jack to keep as a memento from this never-ending night. She had taken several things each time and ,with any luck, would get to take them all home.
âWe should be getting to the end; our present selves would be born less than a decade after that.â Eva yawns and wonders how their guys are doing. Sheâd be surprised if they hadnât killed each other yet.
âHave you noticed Tommy is in most of mine, and in that one from yours in the 20s?â Rose asks, worried that Tommy may be Alfieâs soulmate just as much as she is.
âYep, I wish he werenât, but I guess he is also part of this.â the witch didnât feel like racking her brain about this, she was tired, she wanted Jack to make her feel small and safe and keep her from feeling cold in this fucking weather. Youâd think sheâd get used to the cold now that her permanent residence is in Boston, but Eva canât live without her human space heater at night.
âDid you know he tried to bribe me to get me to leave him?â Rose admits and Eva shook her head even if it didnât surprise her.
He had been married when they dated, his long-time friend and mother to his daughter. Eva liked him, liked his sadness and expressive eyes and when he told her he was divorced, she believed him. Sheâs not a homewrecker, she steers away from couples with open relationships because it never ends well for anyone, and her motherâs reputation has everyone believing Eva is exactly like her.
So, when she found out about Lizzie and all the men and women he fucked with no consideration for anyoneâs feelings, Eva ended things with him and found Alfie stewing over a break up with the same fucking guy.
And now they were friends, so at least some good came out of that.
âIâm glad you didnât take the money; Alfie deserved a happy ending.â The witch assures her Shelbyâs presence doesnât mean what the Englishwoman fears it does.
âAnd Iâm happy you found your happy ending too.â
They wait for the antique clock to chime at midnight before trying the doors again. Hard to believe theyâd only been gone one fucking hour.
And sure enough, the doors reveal their rooms exactly as they had left them earlier that night. They try them several times until both are satisfied, they wonât change before running downstairs to see if their drunk husbands are still sprawled on the floor.
Both men are awake and, surprisingly, not at each otherâs throats.
âEvie, I will ban you from my fine establishment if you ever do this shit again.â Alfie swears, holding his head in his hands feeling the effects of the hangover he and Jack share.
The witch pays no mind to his threats, not when she has a vase full of trophies from their time traveling this past hour.
